Chala Alpini
Is the first barefoot sandal for very demanding and alpine terrain, which does not require any buttons or toe posts. It is available with very stable side straps, 100% vegan or made of fine Black Forest court leather and in two different widths.
We have been thinking about and tinkering with the Alpini model for years, trying it out and developing some prototypes, nothing really convinced us. Now there was a reversal at relatively short notice, through a long-standing customer who visited us there was a decisive breakthrough. He brought along a very good shape, including a prototype, which we further developed together and finalized into these beautiful sandals. So here it is, the new Alpini. This particular model is made for rugged off-road, trail running and high-mountain hiking. A real sandal for the entire adventure area, made for every adventure, no matter how demanding, the journey or your travel trip. With completely new, highly effective and especially abrasion-resistant Vibram soles from the Megagrip series, these are so-called compact soles which are extremely abrasion-resistant and extremely non-slip when wet. The new Alpini does not require any toe posts or buttons, it is equipped with very comfortable, indestructible tubular straps. The side straps specially developed by us are covered with OnSteam® for excellent wearing comfort. For the first time ever, the side ankle straps are fixed on this sandal, which ensures additional stability in the field, and the buckle can be optimally adjusted using four stable square rings and the strong adhesive special Velcro strap. Slipping or breaking out to the side, which is often the case with almost all sandals, is almost impossible. The sandal is available in fine Black Forest court leather - or as a 100% vegan version. And available in five or four colors, black, red, gold (vegan only), blue and brown. As with the BF Premium, we offer the Alpini in two different widths, for slim and wide feet. The Alpini is delivered in the usual high quality including a wax finish and an organic cotton gym bag.

Developed for very demanding & alpine terrain
8.7mm or 9.7mm thick 3-layer sandal
The new Alpini is only available as a three-layer sole. This is also needed in alpine terrain. The extremely shock-absorbing 3-layer variant with Poron XRD intermediate layer and the water-resistant anti-slip artificial leather footbed (with 8.7mm sole thickness), or also with Poron XRD intermediate layer and the very comfortable Black Forest Court leather footbed (with 9.7mm sole thickness). Both protect you from any impact and from being punched through by sharp stones and debris. The sole type is glued under perfectly even atmospheric pressure with water-based solvent-free glue. This ensures optimal flexibility of the sole, is much more sustainable, is excellent for barefoot wear and significantly increases the adhesive performance. In addition, it significantly reduces possible rejects and production errors. The result is a particularly high-quality new tubular band sandal with side straps that is appropriate to the material and is also available in two different widths. Many customers have asked us again and again over the past few years whether this is possible? From now on it is possible and you can adjust the soles even better to your individual feet. The undersole profile of the Alpini is made from a new type of compact rubber sole from the Vibram® Megagrip series. It was specially developed for lead climbing, scrambling and climbing. When wet, it is particularly non-slip and adheres extremely well. With a little friction, the effect is even intensified and it literally sticks to the surface. The aggressive profile perfectly supports your grip in the terrain. Our sandals come with a wax finish.
100% vegan thanks to anti-slip imitation leather or fine Black Forest court leather
The sporty color combination of the subtle black non-slip artificial leather or the brightly colored Schwarzwald Hof leather in combination with the poisonous yellow Poron midsole underlines the claim with which the Alpini sandal starts: Maximum performance, extreme slip resistance, great lateral support, best grip in demanding terrain, when hiking, climbing or running! Your foot stays in place, even when it's wet or under constant physical strain. The Poron XRD does its job perfectly, it just doesn't get any better. It absorbs heavy impact loads and absorbs the first impact energy without passing it on or back to your feet. However, there are a few subtle differences here, the vegan footbed material is better suited for damp water, especially in heavy rain, mud, soggy floors, etc. With the leather footbed, on the other hand, the wearing comfort is a little better, especially the high-quality leather is simply very pleasant with the direct skin and foot contact. There is sure to be something for everyone here...
With side strap guide for even more lateral support
The new Alpini comes completely without toe post and button technology, it is equipped with very comfortable and indestructible tubular straps. These withstand tensile loads of 1.5 tons and optimally prevent lateral slipping or breaking out. They also protect the toes from possible scraping injuries in alpine terrain. The side flaps specially developed by us are equipped with OnSteam® cover for excellent wearing comfort. What is special and for the first time ever is that the ankle straps on the side of this sandal are fixed (sewn on), which provides a lot of additional stability, especially off-road. In addition, the rear ankle system buckle can be optimally adjusted using four stable square rings and the strongly adhesive special Velcro strap, and of course it is also equipped with refined reflector strips on the heel. Slipping or breaking out to the side, which is very common with almost all sandals, is almost impossible.
Handmade and regional
Like all our products, the Alpini is also lovingly made in our factory in Freiburg. It is a very complex product, where many manual actions and sewing steps are necessary. The sandal often goes through everyone's hands until it is finally finished. These sandals are designed to last a long time, simply brush them off under the tap if they are very dirty. Thanks to the innovative compact rubber sole, we give the sandal many years of durability. Because they fulfill an extremely important function very well, bringing your feet and toes safely through the rough terrain. Almost all raw materials are sourced exclusively from southern Germany.
