Book - The cow needs her horns
The cow needs her horns Experiences and research. HG: Cultural community for the care and promotion of biodynamic farming e. V., Kempten
What significance do cows' horns have for the animals, their behavior and their physiology? The “Horn-Bearing Cows Working Group” of the Cultural Association for the Care and Promotion of Biodynamic Agriculture e.V. had questions on these questions. V., the two booklets “The cow and her horns” and “The cow needs her horns!” are published.
This book, now published by Lebendige Erde, combines the two issues and supplements them with contributions from practice and research. The cow horn doesn't just have aesthetic value; it is also an indicator of the animal's health, a tool of social interaction, and an organ important for digestion, metabolism, and thermoregulation. How these meanings manifest themselves and what effects dehorning has is shown in this brochure using texts from farmers and findings from science.
The publisher of this book is the Cultural Association for the Care and Promotion of Biodynamic Agriculture. V., Kempten.
